You say you are an atheist or agnostic and still alive – you are a Hindu. Because if you had been a Muslim and been or even tried to be any of the two mentioned before – you would have been in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) by now, just like Ex-Muslim Saleem Wastik.
Wastik was stabbed badly at 6 AM on February 27 by two Islamists. Zeeshan, one of them, has been killed in an encounter with the Uttar Pradesh police. This came after UP CM Yogi Adityanath ordered the police to take ‘strict action’ and ensure the assailants are arrested at the earliest.
I got to know about this incident when The Dossier’s founder, Kaushlesh Rai, texted about the attack in our WhatsApp group. As I saw Wastik’s image attached to the text, I could hear his laugh when I saw him recently at the Delhi Shabdotsav 2026, where he had come to attend The Pamphlet Panchayat. He was just a hand’s distance away from me. Questions paused me for a while.
Why was he stabbed so brutally that his carotid artery (either of the two big tubes responsible for carrying blood to a human’s head) was cut? Who gave those psycho Islamists the right to literally try to slit a being’s throat? Wastik only used to raise questions against a religion that he followed all his life and even held a degree in Molviyat. He wasn’t some random Islamophobe, like the Islamo-left would say. It was just that when Wastik found out the wrongs present in his religion, he chose to raise his voice – that’s it. So, Muslims will kill him? Sadly, yes.
Islam is made up of 14% Quran (words of Allah), 60% Hadith (events in Mohammed’s life) and 26% Sira (life of Mohammed). The Quran mentions 91 times that Mohammed’s words and actions are considered to be the divine pattern for humanity.
Quran (4:89): ‘They wish that you reject Faith, as they have rejected (Faith), and thus that you all become equal (like one another). So take not Auliya’ (protectors or friends) from them, till they emigrate in the Way of Allah (to Mohammad). But if they turn back (from Islam), take (hold) of them and kill them wherever you find them, and take neither Auliya’ (protectors or friends) nor helpers from them’.
Quran (4:80): ‘Those who obey the Messenger obey Allah’.
Sahih Bukhari, one of the most authentic collections of Hadith mentions the following for a person who leaves Islam:
Sahih Bukhari (52:260): ‘…The Prophet said, “If somebody (a Muslim) discards his religion, kill him'”.
Sahih Bukhari (83:37): ‘Allah’s Apostle never killed anyone except in one of the following three situations: (1) A person who killed somebody unjustly, was killed (in Qisas,) (2) a married person who committed illegal sexual intercourse and (3) a man who fought against Allah and His Apostle and deserted Islam and became an apostate’.
Sahih Bukhari (84:57): (In the words of) Allah’s Apostle, ‘Whoever changed his Islamic religion, then kill him’.
Sahih Bukhari (84:64-65): ‘Allah’s Apostle: “During the last days there will appear some young foolish people who will say the best words but their faith will not go beyond their throats (i.e. they will have no faith) and will go out from (leave) their religion as an arrow goes out of the game. So, wherever you find them, kill them, for whoever kills them shall have reward on the Day of Resurrection'”.
Al-Muwatta of Imam Malik, one of the earliest collections of Hadith that tried to compile the sound teachings of Mohammed says: ‘The Messenger of Allah said, “If someone changes his religion – then strike off his head'”. – (36.18.15)
Why was Wastik stabbed nearly to death I need not tell you now. Whenever I’m hearing Wastik’s news, the only other name that is coming to mind is that of the Udaipur Hindu Tailor Kanhaiya Lal. His throat was also slit by two Islamists, who murdered Lal because he had shared a social media post in support of the former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Spokesperson, Nupur Sharma, who had given a factually correct statement on the so-called religion of peace. That means: if you’ll say anything against Mohammed, your throat will be slit and also, if you’ll not follow his religion, then, too, you will be killed. So, doesn’t matter who you are, Islam won’t leave violence and violence won’t leave you.
What’s the best possible way out? I’m no fan of Dr Ambedkar, but his slogan could work: Educate, Agitate, Organise. Educate yourself in Islam, agitate by writing and speaking against it. No need to abuse, just start quoting facts. Often, facts speak louder than opinions. And lastly, organise with like-minded people. Join a reading club, we will be starting ours soon, even that or any other of your choice, but do not waste your time in doing so. After all, you don’t know where Pahalgam could be waiting for you or me or us. Start documenting truth for your future generations so that they aren’t illiterate about Islam at your age. I believe, if views aren’t shared and discussed, what’s the point of even having them.
As of now, Wastik’s operation has been completed. He regained consciousness in the morning today, but his condition remains critical.
We live in a country whose Constitution gives the Right to Freedom of Religion, but sadly the mullahs won’t follow or I should say they cannot follow any other book, but Quran, as per the Prophet’s religion. What we can certainly do is take these verses to the ordinary Muslims who haven’t in their lives neither read Quran, nor Hadith, nor Sira. Maybe after knowing the reason behind such barbaric attacks, shaming humanity, they decide to leave Islam. Because if humanity has to survive, Islam will have to cease to exist.
